My Dancing
I began my dance journey as a skinny pre-teen obsessed with ballet in a community with little access to training. My many obstacles have taught me to be proactive, self-directed and creative in my approach to learning skills. They have also instilled in me a burning desire to make dance accessible to everyone who wants and needs it.
Since those days, I have pursued many years of training, performance on stage, and contracting roles as an instructor of creative moment workshops.
While I enjoy hip-hop and belly dance, ballet remains my first and enduring love. I consistently train in ballet and perform at every opportunity. Increasingly, I see dance as more than a sport or an art, but a way of life that promotes self-development and healthy, abundant living. I am truly grateful to have this passion and to be able to share it with the world.
My Media
As an artist by nature, I have always used writing, visuals and music to express myself. I believe this naturally led me to pursue a career in film and television. After completing my BA in film, I found opportunities in television production, in the Caribbean and Toronto.
Since moving to Montreal, I have continued to work in media production, non-profit education and outreach, and promotional marketing.
Feeling the urge to embody the dancer in myself more fully, I decided to start my YouTube channel For Dance Sake, to document and share my journey. It is a happy marriage of my media and dance experience. I am enjoying the process of gradually finding kindred spirits online through YouTube.
